Top Gear notwithstanding. Even though it was pretty much the show that made my love for cars grow immensely the facts are the facts and Jeremy did deserve it. What made this day the worse was the fact that I saw my previous car chuggling along traffic in the tropical sun that bathed my town. A 2001 VW Cabrio (A.K.A Oliver) would be pretty insigificant to anyone else but me and although I felt nostalgia this wasn't the cause of my mourning.
As I saw the beige colored top contrasting with the faded black paint going my way, I had to smile. My car was still being used and hopefully enjoyed by its owner the same way I did. The thing is, as I got closer to it and as it passed me by I realized that it wasn't in the same shape I had sold it to the current owner. It was stanced.
As someone who sees stance as the last thing they would ever do to a car I found myself speechless. The car I had worked so hard to turn to stock was now modified in the way I was mostly disgusted. I just have to say that I hope the owner is enjoying it, and that Oliver lives on bringing smiles to whoever has the oportunity to receive them. Even if those smiles come from the loss of ride quality , proper handling, decent performance or cheeky looks.

I once saw the car I grew up with broken on the side of the road, it was a Citroen minivan obviously.

It was quite sad because my mother still talks about that car today, and I'm 24 (and this is a lady that currently drives a S500L and took me to school in an armored Grand Cherokee SRT8) . The interior was living-room like, which made taking care of baby me very easy on long trips.

I was always carried around in Suburbans. A blue one from the early 90's and a white one from the 00's. Both got sold to Tourism companies in the southern beaches, which makes me feel that they received a good life.

I had a conversation with Svend a few days ago about car ownership, we are (and I must imagine you are too) people who take very meticulous care of our cars, we see ourselves as only temporary proprietors, and our mission is to keep the car in great shape for the next person. Your stanced Oliver saddens me because we create emotional ties with cars (as dumb as that may sound) and we expect people to care just like we did.

That's harsh. My condolences. I've tortured myself on the last two cars I've sold, one to my brother and one to my dad, and watching them get neglected is really hard...

Expect is the key word here. It could also be hope.
Either way, I feel great that its still on the road.

I think I feel the same way about cars, I'm really sad this week that I sold my Toyota 4Runner and I'm coming off a 20 minute panic that I really fucked up and shouldn´t have sold her.
I still think that right now, I´m just not panicking anymore...
I take some kind of comfort on the fact that I sold her to a former 4Runner owner that regretted selling his´ deeply, so I think (hope) she´s in good hands and will be just fine for the forseeable future.
I really really fucked up and there is literally no way in hell I can take this back and that sucks fucking balls...

I sold my 99 Civic in 09, and then in 2012 I saw it for sale, It was still stock, and in pretty good shape, but they were now asking more for it than they paid for it three years, and 12,000 miles prior. lol.

I sold my 84 Z31 a couple of years ago. It was old and fairly rough, but the guy got a good price on it. My friend saw it cruising down the highway a little while ago. It's great finding out your old love is still going strong, especially if you didn't think it would be.

Well. Yeah. If my friend saw my Z31 stanced I'm not sure how I'd feel :P
